On Thursday, May 19, 2011 the Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce organized its Ordinary General Assembly at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

The vast majority of the member-companies and other guests as well were present there, while Mr Hakan Malmqvist, the Swedish Ambassador in Athens, honored the event.

Mr John Saracakis, A’ Vice President of the Chamber, welcome and addressed all the participants and the General Meeting went on its procedures and the discussion on the Agenda matters.

Closing the discussion on the Agenda subjects, which are presented in other pages of this magazine, a short briefing was given by the Swedish Ambassador, Mr Hakan Malmqvist on the current economic crisis. Two more very interesting speeches were given that evening:

The first, by Mr Konstantinos Michalos, President of the ACCI , who presented the consequences of the current economic crisis on the business world of Greece and the perspectives of the way out.

The second, by Mr Vassilis Korkidis, President of the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (NCHC), who brief the participants on the crisis consequences, particularly on the Hellenic Commerce people. Both these Speeches are presented in pages 6 and 8 of this magazine. More on this matter are presented in pages 10 and 11 of this issue.

The General Assembly was of great success and a hosting reception, organized by the Chamber for its members and guests, followed that evening
