The Hellenic-Swedish Chamber in brief

The Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce has been active since 1995 having succeeded the Greek-Swedish Business Association, which was established in 1991, and now is included among the ten major foreign and joint (bilateral) Chambers of Commerce in Greece. The Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce is an affiliated member of the Association of Swedish Chambers of Commerce Abroad. Its objectives, organization, activities and services rendered have briefly as follows:

Objective: The Chamber aims to enhance and enlarge the Hellenic-Swedish relations in the economic and business field, to promote the growth of trade and investment between the two countries and become a reliable business center for both communities. To these ends it seeks to bring together the Greek and Swedish business communities and inform them on the economic environment and business practices in their respective countries; to cooperate with the Swedish Embassy in Athens, the Greek Embassy in Stockholm as well as with all the official Organizations for Economy, Trade and Industry of both countries; to assist importers and exporters and provide a forum for an exchange of views on matters of mutual economic and commercial interest.

Organization: The Chamber is an autonomous, non-political and non-profit organization. It does not receive any subsidy from any governmental body and is based on income from membership fees and dues from services rendered. It is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, elected by the General Assembly, and the Executive Director.

Membership: Membership in the Hellenic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce is open to companies and individuals of any nationality who subscribe and accept the objectives and the statute of the Chamber and have their principal office in Greece or in Sweden. There are two categories of members, the Regular and Honorary Member. Regular members are divided into: Individual Regular Members (IRM), Simple Regular Members (SRM) and Sustaining Regular Members (RSM), but all have the same rights.

Activities: The Chamber itself or in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy, the Swedish Trade Council or member-companies organizes press interviews, conferences and symposia as well as business delegations and other meetings in each country. It frequently organizes luncheons, dinners and events, honoring distinguished international guests, where very prominent speakers are invited from the public and private sectors to cover important and current issues of both countries, giving the Chamber members the opportunity to meet and discuss matters of mutual interest.
